Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: “Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2nd Ed., 1213)

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated monthly, most often on the first Sunday of the month in English and the last Sunday of the month in Spanish. Parents and godparents are expected to attend an instructional session on the Sacrament of Baptism, given at St. Joseph’s prior to their child’s baptism. Parents should contact the Parish Rectory to arrange for the baptism of their child.
